Mysteries of the East:

Meditative Art, Music, and Dance

Novermber 21, 2017
19:30-21:30

St. Petersburg, Russia

More than an art performance

The Budart team and Dairafest joined our hearts and minds to create a modern mystery play drawing on the themes and ethos of ancient East. Sacred music by outstanding performers Ahmad Sham Sufi Qawwali Group (Afghanistan) and a beautiful singer Nawal (Comoro Islands), meditative art by world-renowned Budart painters and Sufi whirling merged into one. Eternal and unceasing, moving, resonating, manifesting itself in myriads of forms, the flow of meditation engulfed us all.

Sufi whirling is a meditative dance, which takes dancers and the audience deeper into their hearts. With each turning, the bustle of everyday life retreats, and the mind becomes more peaceful and silent. With each sound of the sacred melody, the soul is filled with pure joy and love. With each brushstroke, the sound and motion take on a vivid and impressive form.

We were hearing, seeing, and feeling something truly extraordinary – the space of our inner world, where each and every one of us can be a creator. This was neither a concert, nor a performance – it was an evening of real magic, which will stay with us for a long time.
